Hannah's Newest Developments at 4 Months

Hannah loves to play on her exersaucer, it's the newest toy for her and keeps her busy for a a few minutes at a time. She holds her head up very well and loves to stand. I think it's so that she can see more of her surroundings when she is standing. She has learned how to push the buttons on this exersaucer and chooses the ones of a cow, "mooooing" and a dog "barking".

Hannah also has begun talking. As you see here in this video, they are all babbles. She has also started saying "nnnn-duh-nnnn-duh-nnnn-duh" when she is frustrated.

She's still working on rolling over, when that happens, then I can post a video.

Our little girl is growing up so fast!

Grandpa Grasham's 80th Birthday Celebration!

We headed to Dallas to celebrate Dan's Grandpa's 80th birthday. It was a blast and it was nice to see everyone. We also enjoyed the opportunity for Dan's extended family to meet Hannah. Here are some pictures and a video from our time there.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

The infamous scrabble game...little did I know that the Grasham's mean "serious business" when it comes to scrabble. They even had a scrabble dictionary. It was entertaining to watch.
Everyone relaxing...

Crying herself to sleep...

Tonight was hard. Let me begin by saying that we have a perfect little baby--of course we are biased! But really, she sleeps 10-11 hrs. per night (9:30 p.m.-7:45 a.m.)--usually. She falls asleep quickly when I rock her and sing to her. Sounds great right? Well...sort of...

I really have been feeling like she NEEDS to be able to go to sleep when Daniel puts her down. The problem is that she has gotten used to me always doing it and has a really difficult time when he trys. She screams at the top of her lungs hysterically until I come in and hold her. He tried to put her down several times when she was a newborn and got the same reaction from Hannah. Dan tries but she just won't have it. That's the first thing and the second is that I always rock her and sing to her before bed, usually until she falls asleep and she is used to that. I think there is something about mommy's. They are more cushy...maybe it's the chest, I'm not sure. Maybe the smell too? Anyway, because of this, we decided to try to let Dan put her down the past couple nights and that has not worked...she has cried and I ended up calming her down till she fell asleep. Well...tonight we let her cry it out. It was so hard, but we didn't know what else to do. Dan tried to put her down and she screamed and so I once again, calmed her down and placed her in her crib.. I put her down this time when she was awake because we want her to get used to sleeping on her own and not being transferred when she's already out.

Why am I telling you all this? Because, I'd like some advice...

-Daniel get's so frustrated that she screams so loud and will NOT calm down and he ends up having to leave to cool off himself from the frustration of trying to get her to calm down for him...what is the best way to help her get used to Daddy rocking her and putting her to sleep?
- Is there a better way or routine for her before bed so that she will go down and be able to fall asleep on her own?
-Is 4 months too young to let her cry that hard?
-Is it okay to rock her to sleep if she is an easy sleeper?...but then if I'm not there, she NEEDS to be able to sleep with Daddy putting her down or someone else. So, it's better
this way I think.

I know many of you have dealt with this issue, having raised your children or as you are currently raising your children.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions!

Our California Trip

Brace yourself...this is a LONG update...and we're off!

Hannah and I alone, braved the airports to head out to the West coast. We were sad to leave Daddy for 10 days, but we made it! Hannah slept on all the plane rides and even began sleeping 9 hours per night while there at my parents house.

We stayed with my parents in Fresno and saw my grandparents next door each morning which was very sweet. Hannah actually woke them up every morning---and I don't think they minded TOO much! She adored my grandpa Ray and began talking a lot to him. Hannah had her first take at a swimming pool and hot tub, both of which she enjoyed.

From my parents house we headed to San Jose. First stop there was to to the beach in Santa Cruz at the Boardwalk. We had a blast in the sand and Hannah really enjoyed being out in the sun with family.

From there, we headed to our old neighborhood, Mary Jane Way. We had a great reunion there with friends. Thank you Rob and Ada for opening your home and providing food for us to enjoy. It was great to catch up with old friends I grew up with and see their children.

Our family reunion began on Saturday and started a fun-filled weekend...except for a 4 car collision that totaled my mom's car and some other family members as well. Fortunately the 80 year old couple that hit the three "parked" cars lucked out with only broken bones, but it was still scary for them I am sure. I praise God that no one was killed.

We stayed with my Aunt Cindy and Karen. Thank you for opening up your homes for us to stay with you. We had a blast! We miss you all too. I had a great time catching up with my cousins Stephanie and Stacy and it was precious to watch them with Hannah.

At the reunion, we had a great time. It was so nice to see family that I hadn't seen since my wedding and for everyone to meet Hannah. This reunion was my mom's side of the family, the "Trivisonno's". Everyone was so impressed with Hannah. She is beautiful and her personality is so unlike mine was---that's a good thing from what I hear ;-)

While visiting in CA, Hannah began to do some new things.

-holding and throwing her toys of her Bumbo tray.
-Talk A LOT.
-Simming in the pool.
-Put her feet in the sand at the beach...she liked it.
-Suck her thumb.
-sleep 9+ hours

Here are some picture below from our travels.
