As Jensen and Kathryn have gotten older, Daniel and I have felt a calling to have more children. When Kathryn was three weeks old, Daniel had a vasectomy. I can’t say I was fully on board with it, but at the time Daniel was very convinced that we should not have anymore children because we were already maxed out with the two little babies, in addition to Hannah. A couple years ago Daniel approached me and said that he felt called to have more children. His desire was to have more God-fearing people in this world and one way to do that was to have more children. We talked about adopting again, which we would love to do, and we talked about finances.
Knowing that Daniel had a vasectomy, we searched around and found that there was a place in new Braunfels, Texas that did vasectomy reversals. We knew that our insurance would not cover it, but after much discussion, prayer and research, we felt this was the direction we were to go. In October 2018, Daniel and I took a trip to new Braunfels where Daniel had his vasectomy reversed. The procedure went well and Daniel healed fine. The recovery for the reversal was quite difficult. The first night we were home do you know reacted to the pain medication and was vomiting. Beyond that he was not able to lift even a gallon of milk for four weeks, this meant he could not help with the kids and he did not travel for that time.
We both are optimistic that whatever happens, whether we would conceive or adopt again, God has a plan for our family. We both looked in anticipation of what that would look like in our future. I for one, have been super at ease and resting in God's plan. Whether we get pregnant or we adopt, I knew that it would be at just the right time, God's time.
Once the healing time had passed and we knew that we could begin trying, we waited one month and then started to try. The first day of my last menstrual period was November 28, 2018, and I ovulated somewhere around December 15th.
On December 27th, we headed to dime box Texas for our annual New Year’s trip with some of our closest friends. On December 29th, I started to feel blood flow in my chest as well as some tiredness, dizziness, and headache. On December 30th, I had already been wondering and had some symptoms, in addition to being one day late on my period, so I went to the store and got three pregnancy tests.
Upon returning home, or back to Dime Box, I took one test and with in two minutes I started to see one faint line and then the next day, one solid line as you see below.
I called Daniel to come and see me in the little house in Dime Box, I then told him I was pregnant. He then told me that he had recently had three dreams that I was pregnant with a baby boy. Jensen just last week, had told me that he was going to have a baby brother.
That night, I went to bed and woke up at 4:30 in the morning having to use the bathroom so badly, then when I got back to bed I could not fall asleep as I was continuing to pray and thank God for what he has done and also to think about for a baby names. When I told Daniel that I was pregnant, he told me that he had three dreams that I was pregnant with a boy, not to mention that my son Jensen (4.5), told me last week that he was going to have a baby brother.
The next day, I wanted to take another pregnancy test just so that I could see the line gets darker and come in quicker and sure enough it did as you see pictured above.
So, we are proud to announce that we are expecting a baby in early September, 2019. We are so excited, blessed, in awe, and amazement that God blessed us so quickly in the first try after Daniel’s reversal.
Happy new year to us, as life will change as we become a family of six!
